Reference Letter Guide
The purpose of a reference letter is to add support for your application for a specific job, scholarship, post-secondary application or program. The people you choose to ask to write this letter should know you reasonably well so that they can highlight in a positive way your skills, character, and school/community involvement. Once someone has agreed to do a reference letter for you, it would be most helpful if you gave them a completed Reference Letter-Student Request Form. This is a great reminder for them of all your activities, awards, future plans, etc. and as well, who the reference letter is to be sent to and the deadline.
Always ASK WELL IN ADVANCE of the due date. Reference letters take time to write.
